Last night was a perfect example of how wrong things can go with Netflix. We are on the 2-per-month deal. The 2 arriving yesterday were the third volume of "The Twilight Zone" and the 1968 Steve McQueen/Faye Dunaway classic "The Thomas Crown Affair."
TCA was slow. Really slow. And when it's a slow Friday night and you're sipping whisky in front of the fireplace, with your dog resting on your leg and the wife knitting, all may be right with the world, but Jewison took his sweet time with many shots and scenes. That nearly put me to sleep. Sometimes you take a chance with these old movies. Pick one up, throw it in, and it's about a 50-50 chance its going to blow. This one clearly did.
But, understand this: Faye Dunaway is fine as hell in this movie.
And if there is any way to categorize a chess-playing scene as hot, they did it here. Meh. I give it about a C.
